Don't go with the "norm" anymore, be different and experiment. If you have a 'guitar center' around your place, you can go in there and play 100's of differnt instruments and amplifiers. You must decide first what kind of band you want i.e. Rock, Jazz, Metal...wateva!! Each band you see on tv, you DONT have to copy...you could be more origanal and add a instrument to your band that people wouldnt expect in that genre. Brands...well, first of all, no matter if you have the best speakers or mikes or guitars....it all depends on the SOUND that you and youre band makes....Good luck man.
