Do you think that games like Guitar Hero are contributing to a lack of interest in musical instruments?

I’ve heard both sides – that the games might spark an interest that was not there before and that the games are just "replacing" musical intstruments for young people. What do you think?

I think that Guitar Hero and Rock Band are creating the interest. After playing Rock Band, I had the urge to go play on my drum pad for a while. Lately, I have become more and more interested in the idea of picking up the drums again. I can see why people would think that the games would take away from the amount of people playing the actual instruments, but it is nothing in comparison. Playing an actual song on the drums is MUCH more rewarding than playing one on the game.

Classical instrumentalists? What do you think of the electric guitar as a musical instrument?

The electric guitar is generally considered a pop music instrument and is used mainly for pop music, however, there are many electric guitarists who perform classical pieces are are heavily influenced by classical musicians particularly the violinists Paganini and Vivaldi.

What are some of your thoughts about this instrument, its sound and whether it is suited to classical music?

Once one accepts the theremin and ondes martenot as classical instruments, there’s no reason in principle why an electric guitar cannot be.

However, to the best of my knowledge, very little classical music has been written for it, and while I’m pretty sure Berlioz would have liked it (particularly the volume!) the typical sound of an electric guitar doesn’t fit into the natural sound of most classical music.

Can jellyfish hear musical instruments such as guitar, clarinet and flute?

I don’t know why I know this…

but jellyfish lack a brain and sensory organs, however, the cubozoan and scyphozoan jellyfishes (there are several different types) have small sensory structures (called Ropalia, if I remember right?).

These little sensors detect mostly changes in light and gravity, but it is debated that they can also detect odors and vibrations.

I doubt a jellyfish could hear the instruments like we do, but they may be able to feel the vibrations or resonance created by these instruments.

Why do I know this?! LOL :)

How do string musical instruments such as guitars and violins produce sounds?

Sounds are produced by vibration.

When the stretched strings of the instruments are plucked, they vibrate to produce sound !!!

What is the difference between the musical instruments of olden times and present times?

I need the difference between piano, guitar, drum, and other musical instruments of olden times and the present times!
IF POSSIBLE please give me the URLs also!!
VERY URGENT!!

You used to have to say "Hath ye seen thy olde bridge? has any soul seen ye bridge?"

To start with the piano is a modern instrument, look at all those parts. The "olden" instrument of the piano would be the harp (once again take a look inside.)

Electronics and amplification is the major difference, Also the science of sound has been worked out so when they’re constructing something like a guitar or violin, they no longer need to guess how it will sounds before it is finished.

where can i buy a piccolo musical instrument (woodwind)?

i want a used piccolo cuz i know that its gonna be a good brand any sites u can give me to buy a used piccolo off of instead of ebay and buy it without a membership

Most reputable sites that specialize in flutes and piccolos, and deal in USED equipment, only deal in higher-end instruments. For example The Flute Exchange will only accept flute on consignment that are valued at above $2,000. That is fairly standard – it is not worth their while to handle cheaper instruments, since their commission would be a pittance.

Try www.usedflutes.com. Many music stores online also sell B and C stock – things are are in opened packages, returned, etc. PLEASE have a flute teacher of professional help you. And the picc is HARD ot play starting from scratch – i hope you are a flutist with stable skills first.

Good luck!

Can someone give me a list of financing companies for high end musical instruments?

I need list of financing companies for high end musical instruments such as guitars, pianos, drums and the such. If you could give me the names of financing companies, or retailers that do this, I would appreciate it. I am doing a school project, and need this information.

I can only really tell you about the drums. Each drum company has it’s own beginner, intermediate, and high end kits. The most notable retailers are Tama, Pearl, Sonor, Yamaha, Mapex, Gretsch, Ludwig

What is an "H string" on a musical stringed instrument, i.e. guitar or piano?

Hi,

I am an amateur piano and autoharp player and have been reading music for about 36 years. Today I discovered a term, possibly specific to stringed instruments and tuning, that I have never heard before, namely, an "h string". This came up in a discussion with a German musician and I have never encountered it before. Can someone please tell me what the h-string is on a double bass, guitar, zither or piano?

Thanks in advance,

Musical but still confused…

H is the seventh degree in the diatonic scale. It was formerly used by the Germans for B natural.

A seventh is an interval embracing seven diatonic degrees of the scale. The term is also given to a chord which includes the interval of a seventh whether major, minor, or diminished.

i am interested to learn musical instruments. for self learning , is guitar best or shall a try piano?

First, I’d like to say that I am a self taught pianist so I can probably help a lot here!

It is mainly preference in my opinion. All the guitarists I know want to learn piano and vice versa!

I personally would choose guitar because it is good to get to grips with using multiple strings as soon as possible, while on a piano all the notes are in a straight line!

Other than that, it’s up to you and how you like to play!
